Fancy a green project for Earth Day?

It’s Earth Day on 22 April.  I thought I’d share this great post from Kathleen Cubley of Knitting Daily about green knitting here.  I like the idea of making yarn from a piece of clothing that’s no longer wearable/wanted.

As for me, I shall commemorate the day by knitting a hat with this:

Treliske organic merino in silver (natural colour)

and this:

Treliske organic merino in marl

I don’t have anything I want to cut up just right now.

It will be a joyful reminder of my responsibilities as one of Earth’s guardians when I wear it.

Of course, there are more serious ways to make an Earth-friendly statement:

  • plant a tree
  • take public transport
  • eat a vegetarian meal
  • conserve water
  • use less electricity
  • change to eco-friendly cleaning and laundry products
  • begin recycling, if you don’t already.

I’d love to hear what you are planning to do.
