It was a rainy, coldish Sunday in this windy little corner of the world. Just the sort of day to stay put under the cosy covers. No such luck though when you have a bouncy seven-year-old who demands that you get up and make breakfast!
We came home from the market damp and chilled. Time to put on dry clothes, a warm woollen vest (slipover), my uber-snuggly alpaca reversible fingerless gloves, make a nice steaming cup of tea and indulge in a freshly baked chocolate brownie. Bliss!
There’s just nothing more comforting for the soul than being wrapped in woollens (and alpaca, in my case) and imbibing in comfort food when the mercury heads south, don’t you think?
And what better thing to do on a day like this than finish editing my pattern for the reversible fingerless gloves?
So here it is!
I have to say that having now knitted this pattern in both alpaca (Flagstaff Alpacas) and wool (The Wool Company Perendale), that I like these gloves in both fibres. The alpaca is light, and oh-so-snuggly, and just darned comfy! Not to mention that I’m totally in love with the colourway.
The woollen version is more robust. It feels very suited to outdoor wear – perfect to wear on the way to work, for a morning at the markets, out driving, or a trip to the beach, for example. Either way, both of them will get a lot of wear from me this winter!
